Sir, – The latest census figures show that the region of Ireland with the greatest increase in population is Fingal. It is also the area with the greatest increase in young people. Fingal, with a population greater than the combined total of the cities of Cork, Galway and Limerick, has no third-level college or major hospital, and it is highly unlikely that these facilities will be provided in the near future.
It is therefore essential that the citizens of Fingal should be provided with easy access to the facilities which are in Dublin.
This access can be best provided by Metro North, and the reactivation of that plan should now become a Government priority. – Yours, etc,
