Sir, – That the cost of ink cartridges over the relevant two-year period should come as a surprise to Deputy Ó Snodaigh, as suggested in your report of Deputy Mary Lou McDonald’s reaction (Home News, February 29th), is indicative of how out of touch some members of the Oireachtas are in relation to the increasing costs faced by small businesses in Ireland.
The relevant sum would represent nearly half of the annual wage bill of many small owner-driven businesses. I know exactly how much ink cartridges and the ever- increasing inputs cost my business, not only on an annual basis, but on a weekly basis. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Sinn Féin is opposed to the sale of State assets.
However, it does not appear to be opposed to the wholesale acquisition of same. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – The only way Aengus Ó Snodaigh could possibly account for 2,000 reams (several tonnes, apparently) of colour printed paper would be to shower every third-level institution in the state with SF material. Surely that would be an impossible task – even with the help of his party? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – In addition to the cartridges, who paid for the paper that made up the estimated three million letters/leaflets? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – While Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin says nobody has heard of a laundry allowance for Dáil deputies, Sinn Féin insists otherwise. Would that be to fund the removal of difficult ink stains? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Perhaps Ireland could go a long way to reducing its carbon footprint, and make for a much “greener” country, if Aengus Ó Snodaigh could be persuaded to blog for his exceedingly well-informed constituents? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – His nibs didn’t have an inkling! – Yours, etc,
Sir, – At least they are only printer cartridges. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Oh the irony of it all! Mr Haughey, Mr Blaney and Capt Kelly must be chortling in their respective resting places at the revelation that the Government, some 41 years on, has admitted that it recently supplied €50,000 worth of cartridges to Sinn Féin. At least this time we know that this colourful episode is all there in black and white. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – How ironic that Mr Ó Snodaigh’s apparent fixation on cartridges should lead to his enemies having all the ammunition. Better than Sinn Féin having it, I daresay. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Would I be correct in saying that a certain Sinn Féin TD has blotted his copy book . . . by using too much ink! – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Given Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh’s obvious enthusiasm for widespread information dissemination, may we now characterise Sinn Féin’s electoral strategy as a ballot box in one hand and an ink cartridge in the other? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Aengus Ó Snodaigh’s use of hundreds of printer cartridges worth over €50,000 equals 500 household charges at €100 to be paid by the electorate. What planet is he on? – Yours, etc,
Sir, – Aengus Ó Snodaigh: print and be damned. – Yours, etc,
