Sir, – Upon reading about a flight of “migrating whopper [sic] swans passing overhead” ( Letters, March 30th), I was reminded of a recent early morning domestic 10-second power outage. The exploration of a neighbouring field confirmed a link with the unfortunate demise of a large male mute swan which had flown into overhead electrical wires and effectively flame-grilled itself.
