KEN FENELLY,
Sir, - Since the publication of "Flood", I have revisited Frank McDonald's excellent book Saving the City, first published in 1989. I say again, first published in 1989. Page 80 is remarkably interesting in the light of current events as it is there that the supposedly "now known" corrupt dealings of Mr Ray Burke are clearly outlined. Furthermore, Page 89 explicitly points to his inappropriate activity as Minister in 1982!
I have found therefore, that Saving the City is not only the essential companion to "Flood" but its template. I appeal to Frank McDonald to republish and have his revenge!
Oh, if only our beloved Taoiseach had a copy of Saving the City in his possession in 1997, he might have been saved his current pain. But then, they say retrospect is often painful; ah no, 'tis all unsubstantiated innuendo. - Yours, etc.,

Sir, - Before the general election, our post was emblazoned with franked advertisements for Fianna Fáil.
I have just received a letter with franking saying: "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Is there a difference?

Sir, - I can empathise with Lady Eden during the 1956 Suez crisis, when she is reported to have remarked: "I feel the Suez Canal is flowing through my drawing room".
I feel the same way about the Flood. - Yours, etc.,
