FLYING THE FLAG

Sir, - Last week I was shopping in the new Bloomfields shopping centre in Dun Laoghaire. As I entered I saw there were flags flying over the entrance. The house flags were flying at mast-head, the Tricolour was drooping forlornly in the middle of its mast, entangled in the halyard.

I brought the matter to the notice of the woman who was in attendance at the oddly-named "Courtesy Desk". She said she would have the matter seen to. Two days later the Tricolour was in the same sorry condition. They must have left it out night and day.

If Bloomfields must fly our national flag over its commercial premises surely the least we should expect is that it will do so with proper respect. - Yours, etc.,
