Sir, – I am completing a biography of Erina Brady (b. 1891, Germany), who brought modern dance to Ireland, and set up her own “Irish School of Dance Art” at 39 Harcourt Street, in 1939. I would be very grateful to hear from any of Erina Brady’s family (originally from Cavan), former pupils, acquaintances or friends with a view to helping me flesh out the details of this artist’s overlooked life and her contribution to Irish culture.
Erina Brady, who was in Ireland from 1938 to 1951, was part of a forgotten Irish Bohemian scene. She collaborated with Austin Clarke at the Peacock Theatre, among others, and opened exhibitions for the White Stag Art Group. Her own 1945 TB Balletwas opened by Éamon de Valera at the Mansion House.
I can be reached at deir@indigo.ie, and at 01 6449596. – Yours, etc,
