Sir, - Padraig McCarthy (August 29th) asks what the Christian churches in this country and worldwide might do together in the face of the disasters of disease and famine in Africa and elsewhere.
Why not realise the value of land and buildings no longer needed and use the money to reinforce the work of the aid agencies and the missionary hospitals and schools in the areas of greatest need? Five loaves and two fishes didn't sound like much to start with, but they created a miracle. - Yours, etc.,
