Madam - The excellent Prime Time programme showing the plight of elderly Irishmen living in England was deeply shocking. How can it be possible that in 2003 people are still living in such squalor and destitution?
Perhaps more upsetting was their loneliness and homesickness for Ireland, when few of them had any living relatives at home.
I believe the Irish Government has a moral obligation to help those people who worked so hard to send money home when times were tough.
Brian Cowen has failed to follow through his promise to the Task Force on Policy regarding Immigration. This is shameful
How many more of these men will die lonely, miserable and forgotten before the Irish Government will face up to its responsibilities? - Yours, etc.,
