Sir, Now that urban and, it is likely, rural households are to get free water supplies, can we expect a rush of similar promises before the election? Free water in March free electricity for all in April, to be followed by free gas in May?
If John Bruton doesn't go to the country until the autumn that gives time for a free telephone service for every householder in June, and free television in July. No doubt your readers can think of a few more freebees before the election. Why not a State paid copy of The Irish Times, delivered to each house? - Yours, etc.,
