Madam, - Your edition of March 10th carried a report on the lifting of restrictions to the free movement of workers from eight new EU member-states (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovak Republic and Slovenia).
The report stated that Portugal was still considering its decision on the issue. In fact, on March 3rd Portugal informed the EU Presidency, the President of the European Commission and the countries concerned that from May 1st all restrictions to the free movement of workers in Portugal will be lifted.
We hope this decision will contribute to the full integration of the new member-states in the European Union. - Yours, etc,
PAULO CASTILHO, Ambassador of Portugal, Dublin.
