Sir, - The French School in Bray, Co Wicklow opened in 1864 and closed in the mid 1960s. It played a large part in the lives of everyone associated with it, and a group of former pupils feel it is important that its contribution to the educational and social life of this country during the hundred years or so of its existence should not go unrecorded.
Although there are no official school records, it is our hope that we may collect enough material to form the basis of a short history of the school.
May we appeal, through your columns, to anyone with information about the French School to send it to me. We are also requesting personal memories, photographs and memorabilia in any way connected with the school. All contributions will be acknowledged and photographs will be copied and returned. - Yours, etc.,
Jennifer Flegg, St Nicholas House, Rostrevor Road, Dublin 6.
