FROM MOUNTJOY TO THE DAIL

Sir, - What a chastening spectacle in the Dáil we enjoyed last week. The sinner in their midst was stoned by the righteous and blameless mob. A pity none of the stone-throwers thought to ask of the man who wrote with his finger on the ground, who should cast the first stone. - Yours, etc.,

Sir, - Ray Kennedy (February 8th) shows up the sad fact that Liam Lawlor was deserted by one and all of his colleagues in Dáil Éireann.

Nobody in Leinster House had the courage of Harry Truman, who travelled from Washington to the funeral of Thomas J. Prendergast, who, like Liam Lawlor, was sent to prison for his misdeeds.

When taken to task for taking the presidential plane to the funeral, Truman simply stated: "He was my friend" and there was no comeback. - Yours, etc.,
