Frongoch sounds like a nice place

Sir, – Diarmaid Ferriter's "50 things we need in Ireland in 2016" (December 19th) was a brilliant catalogue of the serious and the humorous.

The only problem arising from his imagined use of Frongoch camp to send various irritants to would be extreme overcrowding.

The other slight worry for a resident of Welsh origin is the sloppy pronunciation of certain radio broadcasters who are unaware that a single “f” in Welsh is said as an English “v”. The second “o” is a long one, and the final “ch” should present no problem to any Irish person.

The result of these corrections is a name of some beauty and meaning rather than a suggestion of a bodily appendage. – Yours, etc,
