Sir, - Fine Gael may be down at the moment but we are certainly not out. We just need time to repair and rebuild. We will shake up our organisation and come back to fight our corner of the political ring once more. We will be stronger and will have learned the necessary lessons. We the members remain as committed and as focused as ever.
As our mourning period comes to a close, let us bid out-going and long-serving members a fond farewell and thank them for their contribution to political life. Let us also congratulate new entrants to the Dáil and hope that they do not forget their promises and tasks. I hope that Enda Kenny as new leader can walk us down the yellow brick road to strength and unity.
The party will have to sit down at the table and go back to basics. What we need is to re-vamp our brand, come up with a new image and offer the electorate new policies and ideas that will differentiate Fine Gael from other political parties. - Yours, etc.,
SINÉAD COMERFORD,
Lucan,
Co Dublin.
