Sir, - Is it not terribly sad that a solicitor for the GAA is quoted as saying that the new gay magazine GI promotes a lifestyle that is alien to the lifestyle promoted by the GAA (The Irish Times, October 18th)?
While I am not totally versed in how a GAA lifestyle is different from the rest of us, I can assure the GAA that a significant proportion of GAA players and supporters are gay, just as in the rest of the population.
However, with its attitude, no wonder few have ventured out of the closet. By adopting its archaic attitude it is intimidating and alienating many. Is it not about time the GAA moved into the 21st century? Look at what is happening to the church! - Yours, etc.,
