Sir, - Instead of celebrating Dublin's great victory over arch-rivals Meath in Croke Park, I woke up on Monday with a bitter taste in my mouth.
I had bought two tickets on line for my partner and myself, grossly overpriced at €20 each for the upper tier of the Canal Stand. I did not see any reference to children requiring tickets. You can imagine my astonishment when we were refused entry to the stadium because my two-year-old daughter had no ticket. Given that she hardly understood the game, would be sitting on my lap, and at the time was fast asleep, I could not understand this decision. Is the GAA not making enough money from the general public?
My partner and I support St Patrick's Athletic and have never had to buy a ticket for my daughter. I commend St Pat's on the efforts they make to accommodate my partner and I when we arrive at the turnstiles, buggy in hand.
I cannot believe the levels to which the GAA would stoop to extract the last penny from a genuine fan. Was it not enough that I paid €40 in the first place? - Yours, etc.,
DAVID GILLIGAN, Riverside, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
