Sir, - I refer to the response by Danny Lynch, PRO for the GAA (June 28th) to the letter from David Gilligan in your edition of June 25th.

Mr Gilligan made some seemingly reasonable points. The response by Mr. Lynch was extraordinary, especially from a public relations professional. Mr. Gilligan may or may not have been correct in all his assumptions, but to receive a response laden with such thinly veiled sarcasm and arrogance may provide a clue as to why the reputation of this marvellous association is under increasing pressure.

A man who brings his family to games is almost by definition a fan. For him to then provide customer feedback is valid, and to forward-thinking organisations, welcome. Asking "where this 'genuine fan' has been for the last decade" is an extraordinary precursor to providing information about the terms and conditions of ticket sales.
