Sir, - Your journalist, Michael O'Regan (November 25th), in commemorating a Late Late Show programme of 1966, states blandly that "the Mayo GAA Board . . . were among other groups to condemn the show". That is an untruth.

Whatever the need and wisdom of any such condemnation, and whatever spice the falsehood might now add to a jaded story, his statement is simply and totally untrue. I was chairman of the Mayo County Board of the GAA at the time, and I have for almost 30 years been awaiting a retraction and apology for that often repeated fabrication. Of course, none has come.

Since you have now allowed someone to give further life to the untruth, perhaps you will be good enough to publish this note as a reminder to all concerned. - Le duthracht.
