Sir, - Following a meeting of the Officers and Committee of Carrigtwohill GAA Club, we would like to record our total confidence in the integrity and sincerity of our colleague and fellow club member, Niall Barrett.

Niall has been involved with our club for over 25 years and has served in all capacities as player, mentor and officer - currently holding the onerous position of club secretary.

His interest and commitment in the promotion and well-being of our national games is total, exemplified by the selfless dedication of his time and energy to playing activities, club administration and his refereeing career. To those of us who know him, his integrity and sincerity are beyond question.

Regarding the recent Leinster Championship game, Carlow vs Westmeath, at which Niall officiated, we are in no doubt, that Niall implemented the rules as issued to him and according to clarifications received by him. He did not afford himself the luxury of interpreting the rules to his own satisfaction, as some have suggested he should.
