IVO O'SULLIVAN,
Sir, - Legal recognition for the right of gay and lesbian couples to adopt and foster children is among the recommendations in the recent report of the Equality Authority.
Your columnist Kathryn Holmquist (Opinion, May 25th) believes "that's the politically correct view". Really?
Many, if not the majority, in Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael would regard their parties to be Christian Democratic at core. It would be at the peril of those parties to accept the above recommendation.
I believe the majority of the people in this country would claim to be Christian and would subscribe to the Judaeo-Christian ethic. The authority's recommendation would also be inimical to the Islamic community. - Yours, etc.,
IVO O'SULLIVAN,
