Sir, - John Waters is concerned that the draft Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland makes "women more equal than men" (Opinion, November 12th).
The same issue carries Monica McWilliams's address to the annual conference of the Women's Coalition. Speaking of the new Northern Ireland Policing Board, she reports that of 143 female applicants only 17 were shortlisted and just two appointed to serve on the 19-strong board, while among the 10 political nominees there was not a single woman.
It appears that John Waters has little to worry about, at least for the time being. - Yours, etc.,
Joy McCormick, Brooklyn, Greencastle, Co Donegal.
