ENA M. PHELAN,
Madam, - In reply to Kate McMorrow's article of last week in which she refered to the difficulty of getting a toe on the property ladder: Seventeen years ago I was attempting to buy my first (and only) house. Having had an account with Bank of Ireland for approximately 11 years, I rang to make an appointment with the manager to discuss the possibility of acquiring finance. I was told to "bring your fiancé". As I hadn't such a "commodity" no appointment was given. Fortunately the EBS was more amenable!
By the way, I still haven't acquired the fiancé! - Yours, etc.,
ENA M. PHELAN,
