Madam, - Eoin Ó Fiacháin believes that the closure of public houses and nightclubs on Good Friday is demanded by what he terms "Coercive Catholicism" (April 9th). It appears not to have occurred to Mr Ó Fiacháin that non-Roman Catholic Christians also regard Good Friday as a day of solemnity and therefore welcome (to use his phrase) "a forced day of abstinence". - Yours, etc.,
