Sir, - With reference to Dick Roche's letter of September 12th entitled "The Government's Record", the word "broken" springs to mind.
Statistics may paint a picture of success for the Government, but why, as a young professional living in Dublin, can I not afford to own a property within a day's bicycle ride of my place of work, and why do I feel unsafe walking on our capital's main thoroughfare in daylight?
As Aaron Levenstein once wrote: "Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital." - Yours, etc.,
Jonathan Logue, Rowanbyrn, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
