Sir, – Eve Parnell is looking for “someone to invent something to stop men unzipping their trousers and peeing in the streets” ( September 10th). She may be unaware that in Paris they have just unveiled a new device which does the opposite of her first recommendation but solves the problem of the second.
The "uritrottoir" is an open-air urinal in the form of red rubbish bins containing straw and topped with flower containers. These devices are said to be environmentally friendly but they have been criticised for the lack of modesty incurred by users. Is Dublin ready for them? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Eve Parnell is right. A solution already exists! It’s called a public urinal. We used to have them in the capital. – Yours, etc,
