GRIFFITH AVENUE

GERARD KENNY,

GERARD KENNY,

Sir, - Griffith Avenue, a well tree-lined avenue nearly three miles long, stretching from Dublin 3 to Dublin 11, has always looked magnificent in spring, summer and autumn. However, the grass margins on both sides of the footpath are now disappearing, some tarmacadamed, with cars and vans parked on them. Because of illegal parking the remaining grass margins are being churned up like ploughed fields. There are no notices requesting people to refrain from parking on the margins.

I must also mention the lack of benches along the avenue. Do the people living on this avenue care about its beauty and uniqueness? - Yours, etc.,

GERARD KENNY,
