Sir, – Ray Leonard (January 19th) states that the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has internal safeguards in place "that mimic the process of an application to the court". I think journalists in Ireland can take little solace in this. If I told Mr Leonard that he could stand trial for a hypothetical offence in my kitchen, mimicking the trial he would receive in an official court, he would no doubt be wary. – Yours, etc,
DÓNAL CASEY,
London.
