Madam, - The acronym that Conor Cruise O'Brien coined on August 24th, 1982 was "GUBU". It appears five times in the original article (available in your online archive) and indeed can be seen in the snippet that you printed as an image in your edition of December 20th.
In reproducing the text of his article, why do you feel entitled to change "GUBU" to "Gubu"? - Yours, etc,
