Madam, - Who's responsible? I was dismayed to read that the Government has decided not to go ahead with a consumer tax on chewing gum, because of representations by and on behalf of the Wrigley Corporation (The Irish Times, March 16th).
Surely we in Ireland should remain in control of the measures taken in our own country to address our own problems, including those caused by discarded chewing gum. - Yours, etc.
