Sir, – Having stayed on the Carrick Camping campsite in 2017, the first thing that was blatantly obvious in the first half an hour was how painstakingly hard the owners work to try and make a go of their business (Peter Crawley, TV review of At Your Service, irishtimes.com, April 6th).
They were working and mingling with campers at all times. They were cleaning out tents and changing linen, cleaning the kitchen, toilets, etc, in advance of new campers arriving. They were personally meeting and greeting all arrivals and organising games for the kids to allow the parents to relax and to encourage the kids to make friends with each other. They offered stand-up paddle board lessons daily and the boat trip up the Shannon was amazing, again with the owner doing all the hard manual work to keep families happy. The nightly barbecue was a great hit, set up and supervised by the owner. – Yours, etc,
