Hard-done by Dublin!

Sir, – Trevor White ("Dublin is like a person stuck in a bad marriage", March 18th) believes Dublin is the victim in the relationship between the capital and the rest of the country.

Let’s have some perspective – Dublin has half the nation’s jobs, but only 28 per cent of the population.

Much of the Civil Service, the headquarters of our biggest employers, and our decision-making institutions are in Dublin, all of which decided to consistently downgrade services and employment outside the capital.

Should rural Ireland be thankful that we are getting any scraps at all from the table of our “dear” capital?
