JOHN FOLEY,
Sir, - Many thanks to Kevin Myers for his generous allocation of space to highlight the "Close Sellafield" postcard campaign being organised by the Chernobyl Children's Fund (An Irishman's Diary, April 12th).
Notwithstanding his prickly questioning of the role of An Post in supporting the campaign - with the full support of its shareholder - it is, we hope, a case of good emerging from mal-content.
May I remind him that An Post, as the postal authority, is obliged to deliver the postcards? An Post is a commercial company; it generates its own revenues and has the commercial freedom to support organisations, causes or initiatives whether politically correct or otherwise.
Mr Myers is in the tiny minority which does not support the "Close Sellafield" campaign. But many thousands do and they will be putting their cards in the post - for delivery to Prince Charles, Mr Blair and Mr Askew - by the closing date of April 19th. - Yours, etc.,
JOHN FOLEY, Head of Communications, An Post Group, General Post Office, Dublin 1.

Sir, - I compliment you on publishing the article "Misunderstood Hazard" by David Sowby and Frank Turvey in your edition of April 11th. I find it refreshing to read balanced and well-informed comments in an Irish newspaper on matters to do with Sellafield and Chernobyl. - Yours, etc.,
FRANK WINDER, Oaklands Drive, Rathgar, Dublin 6.

Sir, - May I suggest an emergency plan for Sellafield? Extend and adapt the newly planned wind farm off the east coast to generate a westerly breeze. - yours, etc.,
KEVIN McCARTHY, Emerson Avenue, Salthill, Galway.
