Madam, - When Mary Coughlan was busy handbagging widows and widowers we were told that the reduction in their entitlements would bring us into line with other EU countries.
In your edition of April 21st an article on psoriasis showed that, to be in line with the US, we would need 100 dermatologists rather than the 24 we have. Over the past while statistics have shown that we are well below the European average when it comes to cardiologists, urologists and probably every other "ologist" you can think of. Is there any medical/surgical discipline in which we are above the European average?
I will only believe in Ms Coughlan's and the Government's concern for being in line with other European countries when I see the various medical disciplines being staffed at a level that will bring us up to the European average. - Yours, etc.,
