Sir, - As a recovering stroke patient, recently discharged from hospital, I wish to make a plea on behalf of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, employed in the health service.

I reckon that these dedicated professionals helped to liberate me from the prison in which I found myself. Consequently I - and thousands like me, who have benefitted from their services - resent the strictures of Mr Ruairi Quinn, branding them as "greedy" opportunists in pursuit of a longstanding pay claim.

These are all honours graduates, of whom 500 plus points were required for university entrance. It is time they were adequately rewarded and were given the recognition in the scheme of things that they thoroughly deserve. - Yours. etc..
