Sir, – As in previous years, the INTO has shown a lack of respect for the Minister for Education by jeering and heckling him at their conference (Breaking News, April 2nd). This despite the fact they invited him to attend and speak at the conference.
In recent weeks we have seen a similar lack of respect by members of An Garda Síochána, with some members walking out during speeches by their invited guests (Minister for Justice and Garda Commissioner).
We often hear people bemoan the lack of respect supposedly shown by today’s young people. How can we expect them to learn respect when those who teach them in our schools and those who are responsible for upholding law and order in the country are setting such a visible bad example? – Yours, etc,
