Helping out in the fodder crisis

A chara, – Although Dom Gradwell’s suggestion (May 24th) that the NRA cut the grass margins and central medians on our motorway network is a noble one, it is highly impractical for one main reason.

Even if the farmers were willing to use their own machinery to cut the grass, I fear it would cause the deaths of numerous ruminants from their ingesting fizzy drink bottles, pieces of plastic and other such litter, not to mention their reluctance to eat exhaust-fume coated grass! – Is mise,
