Henry Ford's anti-Semitism

Madam, - Your Editorial about the achievements of Henry Ford (June 17th) omitted the man's virulent anti-Semitism. He waged a campaign against the Jewish people in his newspaper the Dearborn Independent which culminated in the publication of a book entitled The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem.

The book was translated into 16 languages and distributed in many countries, including Germany, where the Nazi leadership found in Ford a good friend. During the 1930s he made a practice of hiring fascist sympathisers, received an award from Hitler and invested heavily in Nazi Germany.

I realise that the point of the editorial was to praise his contribution to the automobile industry, but to leave out his anti-Semitism, or for that matter his vicious campaign against the unionisation of the Ford workforce in 1937, is a disservice to history, and to your readers. - Is mise,
