Sir, - I currently don't live in Ireland, but I come back regularly for brief stints of work. I find that renting an apartment anywhere in Dublin costs me almost double the rent I pay in Milan.
I come back to work with a language school that requires me every year, but I end up spending more than half of what I earn on rent, even though the school pays a very decent salary. The teaching of English to the large number of students who come to this country every year contributes substantially to the economy, but who can afford to teach them when living costs are so high? - Yours, etc.,
Genevieve Kennedy, Mlan, Italy.
