Sir, – Further to your recent correspondence referring to John Redmond, perhaps it should be recorded that Michael Davitt (not alone amongst Irish parliamentarians) took a very critical view of Redmond’s character.
In a letter to John Dillon (then leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party), Davitt described Redmond as “unprincipled as he is morally a coward”. See Davit/Dillon papers, Trinity College Dublin. – Yours, etc,
