Sir, - On a recent visit to Egypt something caught my eye that I found to be as awe-inspiring as some of the ancient sights.
At Luxor and Aswan there are dozens of ornate carriages pulled by horses to ferry tourists from A to B. Behind the horse's tail, and tied by the four corners to the shaft, is a piece of canvass to catch the horse's doings.
Perhaps our jarveys at St Stephen's Green could introduce this system. The result would be twofold: we would have cleaner streets and rose growers could queue up and collect very valuable nourishment for their roses. - Yours, etc.,
