Sir, - May I congratulate A. Herlihy of Sheffield (September 23rd) on successfully carving out a life for herself in England. I am sorry that her children "will have only a `visiting' relationship with their extended family" and can understand how she feels "cheated, bitter and resentful". My husband and I are in the much happier situation of living with our extended family while we save for an exorbitantly priced modest home we can call our own.
