Sir, – Immediate and effective implementation of the vacant land levy in the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015 would incentivise either immediate building or sale of vacant development sites.
There are estimated to be 60 hectares available for housing development in inner Dublin city alone.
Ireland now has a property tax on homes but as yet no tax on unused development land.
Progress here will sharply define Government priorities in the housing market. – Yours, etc,
