Sir, – Dr Cormac O’Raifeartaigh of WIT (March 8th) is quite correct to object to your table listing the academic qualifications of the lecturing staff of Irish universities and institutes of technology.
These “league tables” do not control for the multiplicity of variables that exist across educational institutions. As such they are, whether for third-level institutions or second-level schools, meaningless and worthless. – Yours, etc,
