Madam, - Noeleen Hartigan of Amnesty International urges the Government to promote the teaching of human rights through the school system ( The Irish Times, December 14th).
The only problem I have with that is that Amnesty is somewhat selective in defining human rights and actually is now supporting abortion. It defies logic for that organisation to campaign against the death penalty except in the case of the baby in the womb. Deliberate killing is always wrong and it beggars belief that the exception in Amnesty's eyes is the most vulnerable of all. - Yours, etc,
