Sir, – My last hunger strike did not do enough because it was not specific enough. I am going to go on hunger strike again for the month of September as a protest against the sentences handed down to those who abuse, murder,assault, sexually assault our citizens. Many victims are living in fear for life and their lives are destroyed, while those who commit these offences either receive suspended sentences or short sentences for their crimes.
What is a life worth, what value is put on a life destroyed by abuse or serious assault? It appears very little and it appears that it is more important to look after the poor offender who was addicted to drugs or drink or had a deprived childhood.
It is not good enough; something needs to be done. I am not in the best of health, but hope to build myself up by September and will start my hunger strike on September 1st for the month, even if it kills me, as someone has to do something. – Yours, etc,
