Sir, - Mike Murphy's letter on the fallout at IMMA is apposite (December 9th). The failure of the Board of IMMA to deal with the position of Director, prior to the expiry of Mr McGonagle's contract, beggars belief.
Mr Murphy is correct in asserting that Mr McGonagle has been publicly humiliated, a shameful and unnecessary eventuality, for one who has succeeded in creating a national treasure.
I can confirm Mr Murphy's assertion that a substantial number of donors and sponsors are reconsidering their positions. Would it not be more sensible for those responsible for this needless debacle to reconsider theirs instead? - Yours, etc.,
