Madam, - Further to the front- page photograph in your edition of November 28th, the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists would like to congratulate you on highlighting such an important and often overlooked topic.

The ISCP is strongly committed to highlighting the positive effects of exercise on bone health and general fitness. However, we would suggest that readers consult with a chartered physiotherapist before taking up any new exercise to seek advice and guidance regarding the appropriateness of activities and be given a specific programme tailored to their individual needs.

Incidentally, the ISCP is running a Healthy Bones Awareness Day on March 7th next to highlight the importance of bone health.
