Madam, – The proposed water tax is typical of this Government’s attitude to everything. Wait until everything has been badly mismanaged and then blame us. We have more than enough water in Ireland. Did Government members not even read about last year’s flooding – also largely because of their gross mismanagement? The solution was quite simple. Manage all the water properly, build a couple more reservoirs, update the treatment systems and supply systems over the last 15 or 20 years. We had plenty of money.
Instead of that modicum of competence, they chose to waste billions of our money, let the domestic water situation go to pieces and then try to blame us for using too much. As punishment for that we shall have to pay taxes from next year. It is for exactly this reason of monumental negligence and incompetence that the waste and dumping situation is now also out of control. – Yours, etc,
