A chara, – Roger Childs (January 1st) appears to miss the point of my concern about RTÉ omitting to televise Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, which was based on culture rather than religion. Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve has an important part in our culture and RTÉ has long recognised that. As your Editorial of January 3rd says, local culture should be supported and valued as “it could easily vanish under corroding influence”.
