Madam, - Hugh Oram's very interesting "Irishman's Diary" (Nov 8th) on the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers' Society was accompanied by an unacknowledged photograph of "a tour group" outside the society's former home in Palace Street. The image is taken from our website (www.historicalinsights.ie) and shows one of our "historical walking tours of Dublin" being led by myself (to the right, wearing the fedora). While we have no objection to the image being reproduced, the least we can expect is an acknowledgement of its source.

Currently our historical walking tours leave from the front gate of Trinity College at noon on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Incidentally, Hugh Oram did not mention that the society was shut by government proclamation in 1798 and its books seized on suspicion that it was a front for the United Irishmen.- Yours, etc.,
